THEORY TEST
The Theory test is a combination of 50 multiple choice questions and the hazard perception test. To pass, you must score 43 or more correctly. (free online theory test) The hazard perception test contains 14 clips, each showing potential hazards involving road and traffic conditions. You will need to score 44 out of 75 to pass.
PRACTICAL DRIVING TEST
The practical driving test is designed to make sure that new drivers are better trained and have the skills they will need to help them through a lifetime of driving. The test will last for approximately 45 mins in which you will be asked two vehicle safety questions known as “Show Me Tell Me“. During the test you will be asked to drive independently for 20 minutes. Either following directions on a SatNav or following road signs.
The reversing manoeuvres will be one of three
- Parallel park at the side of the road.
- Park in a bay- either driving in and reversing out, or reversing in and driving out.
- Pull up on the right hand side of the road, reverse 2 car lengths and rejoin the traffic.
You may also be asked to perform an emergency stop.
